OUR STORY

Lauren Devlin fell in love with baking in her teens as an avid fan of shows like Cake Boss on TLC. A native of Waynesboro, VA, she taught herself to bake and decorate cakes while practicing at home. After finishing school, she was overjoyed to work professionally as a baker at Vivi’s Cakes and Candy in Charlottesville, VA (formerly Sweethaus). Then, in the midst of the pandemic in 2020, Lauren found herself in the same position as so many others: out of a job and not sure what to do next. She knew she wanted to keep baking but decided to wait for the right location in Downtown Staunton, VA. She continued to refine her baking skills and recipes, creating bakes that have all the flavor and love of home baking, but with the polish and attention to detail of a professional.

 

Lauren finally found her new baking home when she toured the retail space available in The Beverly Apartments building. After renovations to add plenty of kitchen space and maintain the original tile floors and beautiful high ceilings and windows, Lauren was once again ready to bake for the public, this time under her own brand. Whipp'd Cakery opened it’s doors on August 14, 2021,

serving fresh bakes and custom cakes daily!
